Getting used to new software changes means your workflow and speed take a hit, it’s normal and it happens everytime there’s a big annual update. This happens mostly because our brains are not yet used to the new user interface, buttons, new features and their positions. This time will be different because iPadProductivity has you covered 😉.
Reducing the learning curve
Mike and I have been working tirelessly with the new iPadOS 26 update since its public BETA release in July. We have been testing different workflows and system hacks, to make you more efficient in your work life and get you into your productive flow faster.
1.) Keyboard Shortcuts are Faster
We find working in Split View in iPadOS 26 is still one of the most efficient and effective app arrangements to have on your screen, however getting your apps into the Split View arrangement takes a bit of getting used to compared to iPadOS 18. So here’s a faster method we have found to get there quicker. 👉 Use this keyboard shortcut. Tap/ click the open app you wish to move into Split View, then hold 🌐 + Control + (right➡️/ left⬅️ arrow), to resize the app to Split View on the left or right as shown in the video below 👇.
As you can see above 👆in this video, this keyboard shortcut is also great for moving an app to the other side of the screen to reveal the unerlying app.
2.) Just Double Tap it.
If you are using an app in a “quarters” layout or in a “Split View” layout, you will at some point find yourself needing to see more of that app. The fastest way to make an app full screen, no matter its size, its to simply “double tap” the area at the very top of the app. See the video below.

3.) Don’t get too hung up on window management
In iPadOS 26 we have learnt that Apple have course-corrected from the mistakes of Stage Manager in iPadOS 18, and the frustrating window management that came with it. It is obvious to Mike and I now that Apple clearly wants you to be able to simply spread-out your apps and pick the one you want with its new “Expose” feature. This completely removes the frustration or time wasted, managing and prioritizing a limited number windows in your space. Apple almost wants you to be more creatively messy, if you will, so as not to fuss about where an app is or in what arrangement it may be, just simply spread out your apps and choose the one you want. We love it 🤩!
To do this, with three or four fingers, swipe up on the trackpad & pause then release. You can do this quite quickly to speed up your workflow. Watch the video below to see what I mean.
