Bloomberg Apple reporter Mark Gurman first speculated that the next iPad Pro would feature a Vapor Chamber cooling system on October 26, 2025 edition of his Power On newsletter.
Coincidently and completely by chance, three weeks earlier on the 2nd of October, your boys at iPad Productivity wrote an article suggesting this would be a likely move from Apple for the next iPad Pro.
For a few reasons I believe Gurman is correct on his prediction, because interestingly he suggested in his report that if the implementation of a Vapor Chamber is successful in the iPad Pro, Apple may eventually bring vapor chamber cooling to other fanless devices, such as the MacBook Air. Now this makes total sense to me, as the iPad is used by Apple as a test bed for advanced new future technologies.
We have actually seen this with many technologies first debuted on the iPad that made their way later to other Apple devices such as;
- ProMotion – first seen on the iPad Pro in 2017 later adopted by the iPhone and the Macbook in 2021.
- LiDar was another first debuted on the iPad Pro in 2020 then later that year on the iPhone.

- True Tone, first debuted on iPad Pro in 2016, later on IPhone 8 in 2017 and MacBook Pro in 2018.
- Mini-LED, first debuted on the M1 iPad Pro in 2021, later that year on the 14” & 16” MacBook Pro.

- Tandem OLED is the next one, first debuted on the M4 iPad Pro and likely next (but not yet announced) for the iPhone and Macbook.
- Centre stage First debuted on iPad Pro in 2021, later on the 9th Gen iPad, iPad Mini and Studio Display in 2022.

- In fact it was even “Apple’s Silicone Chips”, which first debuted on iPad in 2010, then came to the iPhone than 10 years later and then the MacBook.
It is interesting looking at this list above, knowing all these features first made their way to the iPad! It’s not hard then to see why to so many people feel the iPad is Apple’s most progressive, futuristic device. Staying on point though…
The thing is, if Gurman is correct (and we seldom if ever see predictions about the next iPad Pro models immediately after a launch), I can’t help but think, how does he know this so far ahead of time? Does he know that there is a new iPad Pro model in the works, slated for a sooner launch than the typical 18 month timeframe?
This is not too far a stretch when you consider that the M1 iPad Pro launched just over a year after the A12Z iPad Pro! 🤔
TSMC may be the biggest Factor!

This leads me onto my second reason why I think the iPad Pro is coming early.
There where reports that TSMC’s 2nm production is way ahead of schedule and that the yields where much better than anticipated.
Now given that Apple buys up the majority of TSMC’s production capacity to keep its competitors at bay, they will also have an obligation to use it or loose it. Meaning if Apple is not ready to use the chips, they could face loosing out to another competitor who is.
Thus if the new 2nm (M6) is ready, Apple would also no doubt want to take advantage of this generational leap over the competitors to stay ahead. Apple could simply move up the launch timeline like they did with the M4 chip which launched only 7 months after the M3. You will remember the M4 was so far ahead of the competition, it made a huge splash in the news and media circles, – it was great press for Apple!
Given Apple’s slow pace coming out the gate during the early AI race, I am sure, particularly right now, Apple is looking for some ground breaking technology to shine a spotlight on the company and stir up the media again.
Everyone, including Apple is still betting on AI

Lastly, (and this is my third reason) which ties into the incredible developments we are seeing in the AI arms race. Considering Apple have been undeniably slow off the mark, and that their strategy is largely centered around on device computing as much a possible, they will have to have the best hardware to make their AI model really shine. I also believe Apple are going to be very aggressive with future AI adoption. It’s simple, they want to make up for lost time and ground in recent years – as we are already seeing with the launch of Creator Studio, with the major benefits being AI focused.
For these three reasons above, I believe Apple is looking to regain it’s innovator-in-chief title, and bite into a “low hanging fruit” that is it’s next generation M6 SOC. This could likely suggest if true, that we may very well see an iPad Pro model in October or possibly sooner!
