Yes, you are reading this correctly, Red Dead Redemption is coming to iPad!
Rockstar Games has officially announced, that both Read Dead Redemption and the expansion Undead Nightmare are coming to iOS & Android.
You will be able to step into the shoes of John Marston and enjoy this immersive Western adventure right from your iPad. The complete single player experience will be available for both the main game and the expansion, this includes everything, the full story line, side missions, full open world game play etc.

Rockstar have also redesigned the controls to optimize for phones and tablets. Unconfirmed but almost guaranteed will be the option to use game controllers.
Coincidence or Providence?
Interestingly Mike wrote about this in his article in July and your boys over here at iPadProductivity were on the money again 😉.
But let’s take a look at recent events, namely the release of the M5 iPad Pro. It was clear, as we explained in our article, Apple’s focus area’s were two fold, namely, AI and Gaming.
Of course Apple had to have known that Rockstar were working on Red Dead Redemption for mobile, the announcement came only weeks after the release of M5 iPad Pro. This means Rockstar have been working on this for a while. Knowing Rockstar, you can bet your bottom dollar they would have been collaborating with Apple and optimizing for future hardware.
Similarly, given the size and clout Rockstar Games have and the fact that they have produced two of the top 5 biggest selling consoles titles in the world. Titles such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the reasons why it is highly likely, that Apple would have ensured their future hardware development includes support for Rockstar’s games.
Also don’t forget games make up the largest revenue generator for Apples Services segment which is 2nd only to the iPhone! So you can bet your horse on it 😉, that Apple want a slice of the Red Dead Redemption sales-pie.
How to get it ?

You will be able to purchase Red Dead Redemption via the App Store however if you are a Netflix subscriber, you will be able to download the game from the Netflix Games service for free.
Release Date
Red Dead Redemption is slated to be officially released on the 2nd of December 2025.
What this means – Our take.
This is so exciting to see, AAA titles like these from major studios like Rockstar Games, will encourage other developers to bring their games to the same places, why, because everyone wants to be where the big boys are. Meaning, most game developers want to ensure their titles are shown in the same places as the biggest game studios.
This is sure to be a huge catalyst towards other studios bringing their AAA games to the iPad.
We are living in exciting times!
